Holism for Pregnancy
In a nutshell, holism for pregnancy is about awareness.
Awareness means being attuned to your emotions and your body. This heightened awareness will help you identify areas that need attention and allow you to take optimal care of yourself and your baby, maximizing your chances for a successful labor, delivery and post partum experience.
There are three major areas that I focus upon:
The Body: We try to ensure that the body is healthy during pregnancy. There are many systems to assess and support to ensure that the body is as healthy as possible. We try to become aware of subtle signs of problems early, which will enable us to do all we can to prevent the major complications of pregnancy, such as preterm labor, preeclampsia and gestational diabetes.
Mind-Body Management: How you feel emotionally during your pregnancy is a very important determinant of your pregnancy experience. We want you to be fully aware of your emotions and to discuss your feelings and expectations in order to resolve any issues. This will allow you to focus your emotional on energy connecting and bonding with your baby.
Nutrition: Nutrition is vitally important to a pregnant woman. Good nutrition starts with being aware of what you should be eating and what you actually are eating. Proper nutrition will help the baby grow well and helps ensure the mother's general health both during and after the pregnancy.
When physical health and an emotional/spiritual sense of trust is created—trust in the birth process, your body, nature and spirit—an opening is created that allows for the creation of a healthy pregnancy. Remarkably, achieving a holistically healthy pregnancy can help heal all areas of your life and even prevent problems in the future.
