Partnerships with Patients
My patients and I are partners.
Partnership means to me that I take care of my patients by meeting all of their needs and addressing all of the issues that are either affecting them now or are likely to impact them in the future in a way that feels right for them.
Do they want cutting edge medicines or surgery alone? Do they want to keep their stressors private? Or, do they want to explore if their problems of an unhappy marriage, diabetes, excess weight and fibroids are somehow interrelated? Do they want to try to use lifestyle change, herbs and supplements as a first choice and use medicine and surgery as a last resort?
I always respect and honor the preferences of my patient when determining the mix of conventional or alternative therapies. I view my role as that of an educator, teaching my patients about their condition and their therapeutic options and then serving as a resource to ensure that they get the best treatment possible.
I take great pride in the holistic practitioners that work with me, and they have all treated me and achieved great results. I have thoroughly researched the quality of all the supplements I recommend and have experienced the benefits of an extensive regimen of herbs and vitamins that I take on a daily basis.
Finally, I have personally practiced each of the mind/body/spirit techniques I recommend or teach as I addressed the stress in my own life.
I believe it is my willingness to work with patients within their belief system, combined with my intellectual knowledge and first hand experience with Holistic treatments, that enables me to partner so successfully with my patients. This partnership is what ultimately allows us to co-create a treatment plan that brings health, happiness and peace.
